New and Ready For Battle, The 2014 Jeep Cherokee Makes A Splash

Many people remember the original Jeep Cherokee as a vehicle with some serious Jeep heritage and design. Released in 1984, the XJ (as Jeep fans refer to it as) was the standard for Jeep throughout the 80's, giving owners a unibody SUV with tremendous performance and power. The XJ is now referred to as the vehicle that was so influential in creating today's crossover SUV model shapes, due to the fact automakers tried to imitate Jeep's ahead-of-the-time SUV.

Now fast forward to 2013.

Jeep has continued to build upon their model of the past in a revitalized form, the 2014 Jeep Cherokee. Though it may look drastically different from the original, it still wears the Jeep badging with pride and Jeep refuses to let critics affect the modernization and rebirth of the Cherokee nameplate.

The new Cherokee comes with two engine offerings; a 184 hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine comes standard, with an available 271 hp V6 also available for buyers. Both engines come paired to a new 9-speed automatic transmission.

As the Cherokee grows with the times, so too does its fuel economy, which sees a nice increase thanks to the transmission change among other updates. Rated at 31 mpg on the highway, you can drive in confidence knowing that your Cherokee is as efficient as it is capable. That also needs to be made clear, that the Cherokee loses none of its capability, and if you don't believe us, just watch this video proving it.

Designers of the Cherokee said that they wanted to style the new Cherokee boldly and expressively, and they did by making the resurrected model stand out from other automakers offerings. The original Cherokee stood out for its wonderful and breakthrough design and the new Cherokee will likely do it from a stylistic perspective.
