The highly-anticipated grand debut of the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee has finally arrived. After receiving several teasers and bits of information, Jeep has provided us with all kinds of new information about the 5th generation Grand Cherokee.
One of the most notable features is the available plug-in hybrid model. The 2022 Grand Cherokee 4xe is the most powerful in the entire lineup and happens to be the automaker's second hybrid variant. The Grand Cherokee 4xe borrows the four-cylinder turbocharged engine and electric motor combination from the Jeep Wrangler 4xe that's rated at 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. The 4xe plug-in hybrid option is available of the Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve trim levels.
According to Jeep, the 2022 Grand Cherokee offers three powertrains. The entry-level choice is the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that makes 293 hp and 260 pound-feet of torque and can tow up to 6,200 pounds. Buyers can upgrade to the 5.7-liter V8 with 357 hp and 390 lb-ft, which allows for 7,200 pounds of towing.
The interior of the 2022 Grand Cherokee is similar to the 2021 Grand Cherokee L. An 8-way power-adjustable driver seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, 10.3-inch digital gauge cluster, 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included.
The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee is expected to arrive at Kelly Jeep Chrysler later this year.
