The Laredo name traces its roots to the final years of the Jeep CJ era in the early 1980s. At the time, it offered a distinctive combination of rugged 4x4 capability, upgraded materials, comfort, and unmistakable styling.
When the Wrangler replaced the CJ in 1987, the Laredo name continued, helping mark Jeep's transition from a primarily utilitarian vehicle into the adventure-focused lifestyle icon we recognize today. The name itself draws inspiration from Laredo, Texas, and the landscapes and independent spirit of the American Southwest. For 2027, Jeep has reimagined that character for a new generation.
Heritage-Inspired Style With a Modern Twist
One look at the 2027 Wrangler Laredo makes its heritage influence clear. The special edition incorporates earth tones, bold graphics, and bronze accents inspired by classic Wrangler and CJ designs. Among its most distinctive features is the return of the tan soft top, giving the new model an unmistakably retro appearance. A black hardtop is also available for two- and four-door models, while four-door buyers can choose the available Sky One-Touch® Power Top.
Other exterior details include a unique Gobi-accented grille, heritage-inspired Laredo hood and bodyside graphics, bronze tow hooks, bronze-accented Jeep and Trail Rated badging, and a lasso-style "4WD" graphic at the rear. The production Wrangler Laredo also stays remarkably close to the concept Jeep presented at the 2026 Easter Jeep Safari, where its combination of classic styling and modern Wrangler capability attracted plenty of attention from enthusiasts.
Standard Xtreme 35 Capability
The Laredo isn't simply about bringing back a familiar name and retro styling. Jeep has given the special edition serious off-road hardware as well. Built on the capable Wrangler Willys foundation, every 2027 Wrangler Laredo comes standard with the Xtreme 35 Package. The package includes 35-inch BFGoodrich KO2 tires, bronze beadlock-capable wheels, and a 1-inch lift, helping provide the ground clearance and traction expected from a Wrangler designed for adventures beyond the pavement.
An available trailer hitch also gives the Wrangler Laredo a towing capacity of up to 3,500 pounds when properly equipped. Better yet, Jeep will offer the new Laredo in both two-door and four-door configurations, allowing buyers to choose between the classic Wrangler proportions or additional passenger and cargo versatility.
A Premium Interior Inspired by the American Southwest
Jeep has carried the Laredo's distinctive character into the cabin as well. The interior is anchored by Bison Brown Nappa leather seating, including heated and power-adjustable front seats. Mayan Gold contrast stitching complements the rich brown upholstery, while Global Black trim appears across the instrument panel surround, grab handle, door armrests, and center console.
Jeep has also added several details exclusively for the Laredo. A plaque on the rear swing gate features the coordinates of Laredo, Texas, while a custom center-console badge further connects the Wrangler to its namesake There's even a small Western-inspired Easter egg: subtle cowboy hat motifs appear on the HVAC controls. Together, these details create an interior that feels noticeably different from other Wrangler models while remaining unmistakably Jeep.

The Wrangler Laredo is the ninth release in Jeep's Twelve 4 Twelve series, a yearlong collection of special-edition Wrangler models celebrating different aspects of the brand's history and enthusiast culture.

When Can You Order the 2027 Jeep Wrangler Laredo?
Jeep announced the new Wrangler Laredo on July 12, 2026, and said ordering would open later in the month. The Laredo package carries a starting MSRP $1,995 above a Wrangler Willys equipped with the Xtreme 35 Tire Package.
With its limited-edition character, heritage-inspired details, standard 35-inch tires, and availability in both two- and four-door configurations, the Laredo should have plenty of appeal for longtime Jeep enthusiasts as well as drivers discovering the Wrangler for the first time.
