Jeep just keeps on growing! After adding the new three-row Grand Cherokee L, a hybrid Wrangler, and the reintroduction of the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, the Jeep Cherokee is next on the list of upgrades.
The next Cherokee will be “bigger and better than ever” said Morrison, the head of Jeep's North American division. Speaking to Motor Trend, Jeep boss Christian Meunier revealed that the next-generation Cherokee will “have a lot of electrification”.
The Jeep Cherokee is an iconic SUV that has changed drastically over the past 50 years. The first Jeep Cherokee was re-introduced and rebadged version of the Wagoneer. For the second generation Cherokee the model moved to a new platform; the 1984 version went from bob-on-frame to unibody construction. The boxy Cherokee is credited as the first modern SUV with four doors and helped establish the segment and build the Jeep brand.
With all the changes that the Cherokee has undergone over the years, the SUV's primary purpose has remained the same: to be one of the most capable and rugged SUVs available on the market.
