After a thirty year hiatus, the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are back – and they are both available at Kelly Jeep in Lynnfield, MA! That being said, many perspective buyers may be wondering what the differences between both luxury SUVs are. Here, we will break down how the two compare to each other.

Design

At first glance, the 2022 Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are almost identical. Along with the Grand Cherokee L, both the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are the first three-row Jeeps since 2006. They're pretty much the same size and both have U-shaped windows, roof racks, and bold nameplates lettering across the front, back, and sides. The most notable difference is that the Grand Wagoneer has a bolder grille design, chrome around the windows, a black-painted roof, cooper-colored tinted windows, and more premium LED lighting that go into a welcome dance sequence upon remote start.

Interior – Big Screen – or Big Screen (s)

One of the first things you will notice when you step inside the Grand Wagoneer are the 75 inches of maximum display area broken up into seven screens, all of which are standard on the top Series III trim. Among those are the driver's digital cluster, center infotainment system, passenger screen, two rear screens for entertainment, and comfort screens in the first two rows for climate and seat adjustment. The Wagoneer also has its fair share of entertainment screens, however, if you're looking for that LCD glow, the Grand Wagoneer is the way to go.

Performance

In the 2022 Wagoneer, there is a 5.7-liter V-8 with the e-Torque volt mild-hybrid system. Output stands at an impressive 392 horsepower and 404 lb-ft of torque, and it can tow up to 10,000 pounds. On the Grand Wagoneer, the 5.7 is swapped for – at launch – a 6.4-liter V-8 generating 471 hp and 455 lb-ft of torque. That is enough power to hustle that large SUV from zero to 60 mph in six seconds and tow just under 10,000 pounds. It is expected that more engines will follow, including a plug-in hybrid for the 4xe model.

Audio Systems

The Grand Wagoneer introduces a McIntosh stereo, which is the first time that the audio system has been in a vehicle, and has 950 watts and 23 speakers and the ability to watch digitized receiver status needles dance on the infotainment system. An impressive Alpine-branded system with nine speakers is offered in the Wagoneer, where customers can opt for a lower-watt, 19-speaker McIntosh system.

Comfort and Seating

The Wagoneer provides a three-zone climate control system; Grand Wagoneer has a four-zone HVAC system with touchscreens in the first two rows for controlling the aircon. Wagoneer has Nappa leather trimmed, 12-way power seats, and the Grand Wagoneer takes it one step further with Palermo leather on the top trims for its 24-way adjustable front seats. Second-row captain's chairs are standard on the Grand Wagoneer, and are optional on the Wagoneer.

Overall, both the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer redefine the meaning of a luxury SUV. In fact, they have both already earned the title of Best SUV Lineup for 2021 as well as Luxury Vehicle of the Year. So depending on what you're looking for in a large SUV, it is safe to say that you will find what you need in both the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer.
