The Jeep Wrangler has come a long way since its inception as a rugged rock crawler. Today, the Wrangler is not only the most recognized and capable vehicle in the world, it also has more luxurious features than ever before. The Wrangler was first introduced in 1986 as a successor to the original Jeep CJ. The CJ was known for its ruggedness and off-road capabilities but lacked comfort and luxury features. The Wrangler was designed to address these shortcomings while still retaining the Jeep’s brand reputation for toughness and off-roading.
In the late nineties, Jeep introduced the Wrangler TJ, which was a significant departure from the previous models. The TJ featured a new four-door body style, which made it more practical for families. It also came with an improvised suspension system, electronic stability control, and a larger, more powerful engine.
In 2018, Jeep introduced the fourth-generation Wrangler, known as the JL. The JL continues the tradition of being a rugged off-roader while also offering high-end features. The JL’s interior is even more upscale than the previous models, with features such as leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, and a larger touchscreen infotainment system. The JL also features advanced safety features such as blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert.
Just last month, Jeep introduced the redesigned 2024 Jeep Wrangler, replete with all the modern necessities: 12-way power adjustable front seats, 12.3-inch touchscreen, advanced safety features, contrast accent stitching and acoustic front glass and thicker carpeting for a quieter ride.
Updates like these took a lot of engineering prowess to get right, according to Jim Morrison, senior vice president and head of Jeep North America.
“Drivers can now have water up to their knees and still have a power seat,” he told ABC News.
