The Jeep Cherokee returns -- and is better than ever. After a three-year hiatus, Jeep is ushering in a new era for this beloved SUV, delivering a model that's more efficient, more tech-forward, and more ready than ever for off-road thrills and everyday versatility.
“From every angle, the 2026 Jeep Cherokee evokes the best of the brand’s rich design history,” said Vince Galante, vice president, Jeep global design. “These bold, upright shapes are complimented by Jeep’s iconic seven slot grille, boxy side profile and distinctive jerrican-inspired taillight design, giving it an instantly recognizable signature on the road.”
1. Design That Honors Its Roots… and Looks to the Future
- The new 2026 Jeep Cherokee embraces a blocky, upright profile, recalling classic Jeep lines while asserting modern boldness—complete with squared-off LED headlights, jerrycan-inspired taillights, and the iconic seven-slot grille seamlessly integrated into a refined face.
- Compared to its predecessor, it’s longer, taller, and wider, featuring a longer 113-inch wheelbase and five extra inches in overall length—boosting cabin and cargo space significantly.
- Inside, the cabin receives a modern makeover with premium and sustainable materials, expanded headroom and shoulder room, and optional upscale finishes in the Overland trim.âÂÂ
2. Hybrid Power—and It’s All Standard
- The new Cherokee ditches traditional gas-only engines in favor of a hybrid-only powertrain: a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder paired with dual electric motors—outputting 210 hp and 230 lb-ft of torque.
- Remarkable efficiency: 37 mpg combined, and a driving range exceeding 500 miles.
- Comes with standard AWD, a rear-axle disconnect for improved economy when 4×4 isn't needed, and multiple terrain modes (Auto, Sport, Snow, Sand/Mud).
- Towing capacity impressively rated up to 3,500 pounds, keeping its adventure-ready credentials intact.
3. Tech & Comfort: Modern, Connected, and Smart
- âÂÂA 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 10.3-inch (or 10.25-inch) digital instrument cluster come standard—complete with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and Jeep’s Uconnect 5 system.
- The interior design highlights horizontal lines, streamlined vents, and an octagonal steering wheel—bringing a refined, modern aesthetic.
- Standard driver-assist suite includes adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, and more.
- Higher trims bring in ventilated seats, dual-pane sunroof, premium audio, and even 360-degree camerasâÂÂ.
- Over-the-air updates, SOS calls, and remote services are included via Jeep's new Connect One package.
4. Room, Value & Trim Options
- Cargo space leaps by ~30%, reaching around 68 cubic feet with seats folded—offering real utility for road trips and hauling gear.
- Entry price starts at $36,995 (includes destination), and delivers more value than the outgoing 2023 model.
